Just refound this pic, my Mt Ventoux climb time.
Back in July on my hired bike I didn't have a gps or hrm so used the stopwatch on my iPhone.
I started recording from the coach park outside Bedoin & hit stop after I dismounted at the summit. I'd heard so many different stories & tactics about how to do the climb I decided my plan was to have no plan, other than get my eating & drinking right & keep pushing until the top. I think it worked pretty well. FWIW I dropped about 2 mins off my Cootha p.b. about a week later, purely from knowing it's an easy climb in comparisson.Pics from Bikestyle TDF 2009 tour

The caravan is nutty. These odd floats had just decended about 1000m on tight wet roads that were challenging enough on a road bike. The rider is Heinrich Haussler (spelling not checked), the eventual stage winner & brother of one of our tour companions, amazing.

Update from Ensisheim France
We are in Ensisheim France tonight, tomorrow we ride out for 40km to
join the Tour route for the last 60km over a few decent category 2 & 3
climbs.
View Larger Map I am getting closer to getting the hire bike (carbon synapse) dialed
in, but am very much wishing I was riding my own bike. I wasn't
thinking that though as the bike copped a bucked rear rim from being
shunted by another rider on our 'easy' 40km shake down loop, nor when
hearing of 2 other personal bikes that were badly damaged in transit. Having trouble with GPS & internet connectivity pretty much since we
landed and are on the go constantly (& loving it) so have given up on
tracking routes or updating :-) Can't even upload pics at the moment,
might try later? Having a blast and am loving living the dream thus far. Au revoir
